Vintage Kustom Amp Serial Numbers

Vintage

This amp is rated at 125 watts RMS (250 peak). It has the original ungrounded 2 prong plug and the phase switch on the front so you can remove the hum.

Both channels work. This solid state head is as heavy as a tube amp and happily, as you start to push it, it gives a grind like a tube amp rather than breaking up unpleasantly like many solid state amps will. Also, it's an honest 125 watt rating.

The 215 cab should have Altec Lansings in her based on the model number (I've never opened it up to verify), and she thunders. I A/B's the cab to a modern Hartke 215 cab and only the Kustom made my doors and walls rattle. I bought this rig from a working musician in the valley area back in the early 80's and I've been the only owner since. I do have the original covers (!!!) for both pieces, they are in terrible shape but they properly protect the equipment. This would a great stage piece for a 60's, 70's, or blues band, or as studio gear for a traditionalist. You will see many Kustom Tuck-n-roll sets out there, but very few of them will be K250s paired with an original 215. This is one of the very few.

Kustom amp serial number chart

Serial number for the cab is 5 digits and starts with 40, serial number for the amp is 5 digits and starts with 77, which puts both of these pieces towards the early side of the manufacturing date range. This set has some small dings and tears, but it is 45 years old, so it's in great shape for its age. Own a working and gig worthy piece of history. No shipping, this will have to be a local sale. I am willing to drive up to an hour to meet a buyer part way. NOTE: I have a second Kustom 250-1 bass amp head, also from the same era, also working, that I'm willing to add to the deal for an additional $200. The Naugahyde is banged up along the bottom edge and repaired with black electrical tape, but from FOH distance you can't tell.

This head has been updated to a 3 prong plug so the phase switch doesn't do anything (because if it did, that would be bad!) If you just want to buy the second head, I'll sell it by itself for $250 and it still needs to be an in person sale - no shipping.
